Some of you may have noticed that the Cult Film, Exploitation, Horror, PHYSICAL MEDIA COLLECTOR GROUP was disabled by Facebook on Sunday night. From what I can recall, there were 32,000 people in that group and I'm sure the active users would like to know what exactly has happened. Apparently, there is a lot to the story, so I invited Roy Damm back to tell us exactly what transpired with what was essentially the most important physical media collector group on Facebook.
For those that aren’t familiar, Roy is an underground filmmaker, video archiving activist, and pop culture historian. He has dedicated his entire life to the art of video archiving. He started out archiving live concert recordings and is the only live music bootlegger with a legitimate licensing deal for the historic footage he has filmed.
The group has been relaunched, and Facebook has really been squashing groups. The algorithm is not showing many people in these groups the posts that are being shared, and with that being said, Roy suggests going into the group settings and adjusting your notifications to stay connected to the daily discussions and sale threads.
