Growing up there were a few go-to movies at our house. One was Star Wars and the other was The Road Warrior. It ultimately depended on Dad as to who I’d fear that night, Darth Vader or a mohawked, leather-clad biker. And I’m not referring to my Dad. Wez was that biker and he served as Lord Humungus' lieutenant in the gang. He was considered the most brutal of Humungus' followers; a psychotic brute who was cruel, reactive, and unrelenting in his pursuit of prey. Wez was a scary guy!
Little did I know, this same “brute” haunts my own kid’s favorite show as well. With the prominence of streaming, my son adapted to the ins and owns of Netflix very quickly, and being the 7-year-old that he is, he quickly gravitated to watching live-action crime-fighting martial artists. Similar to Wez, an evil baddie called Ransik terrorizes the Power Rangers of the Time Force series. My kid doesn’t care for him much.
When the opportunity arose to confront the man that portrayed these nightmares, I cleared my schedule as I couldn’t miss a chance to discuss the roles that kept me up at night with the animal behind them, Vernon Wells. While Vernon is obviously known as a villain to many, it was nice to examine some of his lesser-known and upcoming projects.
Speaking of which, Dave Sheridan, Greg Sestero, and you guessed it, Veron Wells star in a yuletide fright-fest like no other! In Robert Livings and Randy Nundlall Jr.'s Christmas horror anthology, The Christmas Tapes, a family's movie night is interrupted by a stranger, insistent on making the next Christmas classic film himself.
Terror Films released The Christmas Tapes worldwide just last week! So, if you’re a fan of anthology horror or grew up with The Road Warrior like me, do yourself a favor and check it out! To be honest, I thought it was better than the latest VHS installment, and as far as edgy Christmas movies, it’ll probably get mentioned for years to come.
