Brendan Meyer - Color Out of Space, The OA, The Guest (2020) #video

Everywhere I looked pointed to Brendan being a HUGE film buff. Most biographies would go as far as to say he has an “extensive knowledge” of live theatre, film, and TV. So right off the bat, I wanted to know his favorite films of 2019. Brendan did not disappoint, and we gushed over Parasite and Uncut Gems right away.

While most people might know him for his acting, Brendan is also an accredited writer and director. Before diving into his role as Benny in Color Out of Space, Brendan indulged me with a quick discussion of his short films, A Job and, his latest short, Home Again, which is currently in post-production.

So yeah, by this point you’re probably wondering, what can’t this kid do? Well, a quick google search will lead you down some weird rabbit holes, but I can say that he definitely delivers a masterful performance in Color Out of Space. Which says a lot considering he’s working alongside the likes of Nic Cage, Joely Richardson, and a rowdy pack of alpacas.

After a meteorite lands in the front yard of their farm, Nathan Gardner (Nicolas Cage) and his family find themselves battling a mutant extraterrestrial organism as it infects their minds and bodies, transforming their quiet rural life into a technicolor nightmare.

The film itself, well, it’s something to behold. Excluding my Mom, my family loved it, the CineDump team enjoyed it too! See it for yourself, only in theaters, January 24th.
