In Our Blood, directed by Pedro Kos, has made waves as an official selection for the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival's Cheval Noir section. The narrative follows Emily Wyland (Brittany O’Grady), a filmmaker who embarks on an intimate documentary journey to reconnect with her estranged mother. However, when her mother goes missing, presumed lost to the very addictions that once fractured their family, Emily and her cinematographer, Danny (E.J. Bonilla), must unravel a series of sinister clues to find her.
Pedro Kos, known for his Oscar-nominated documentary work on Rebel Hearts and Lead Me Home, makes his debut in narrative filmmaking with In Our Blood. Kos’s directorial approach combines the raw immediacy of documentary with the eerie twists of genre fiction. He aims to explore the dark realities of modern life and the complicity we all share in a society that preys on its most vulnerable.
Brittany O’Grady, who brings her dynamic talents to the role of Emily, is celebrated for her performances in The White Lotus and The Consultant. E.J. Bonilla, playing Danny, has captivated audiences with his roles in The Old Man and the upcoming The Exorcist sequel. The cast also includes Alanna Ubach, known for her work in Euphoria and Legally Blonde, and Krisha Fairchild, acclaimed for her role in Krisha.
Kos’s narrative is supported by a strong creative team, including writer Mallory Westfall, known for her work on Chucky and Fear the Walking Dead. The film’s production also benefits from the expertise of producers Stuart Fenegan, Gary Lucchesi, and Michael McKay, among others, who bring their extensive experience to this haunting new project.
In Our Blood is set to offer an intense and thought-provoking experience that goes beyond conventional horror, promising to engage audiences in a reflection on societal issues through the lens of a gripping narrative.
