Skeet Ulrich's breakthrough role, and probably what I know him from most, was in the 1996 horror movie Scream, directed by Wes Craven, in which he played the character Billy Loomis. He also appeared in other classic movies of the 1990s, including The Craft and As Good as It Gets, but to me, nothing will ever top Scream.
In addition to his film work, Ulrich has had several prominent roles on television. He starred as Jake Green in the post-apocalyptic series Jericho and Detective Rex Winters in the long-running procedural drama Law & Order: LA. He also had a recurring role in the hit series Riverdale as the character FP Jones, father of Jughead Jones.
Ulrich has received critical acclaim for his acting and has been nominated for several awards, including a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in As Good as It Gets. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is in the running for another award, as Ulrich delivers another steller performance in Blood.
A mother recently separated from her husband, moves her daughter and young son Owen back into her family farmhouse. Shortly after settling in, Owen’s dog escapes into the woods and returns days later, blood-soaked and rabid. When the dog attacks and bites him, the resulting infection grows more shocking as Owen’s behavior becomes frightening and deadly. As he spirals deeper into the depths of the illness, Jess discovers a disturbing cure, which makes her question how far she is willing to go to keep her child alive.
Ulrich is able to showcase his range in Blood, and I suggest you give it a go as soon as possible. It had a theatrical run near the end of January, so you may get lucky and find a theater that still has it playing. But if not, it’s available On Demand today!
