This one is a long time coming as I've been watching Josh for years. As an emerging talent from College Humor or a familiar face on Dorkly, he was hard not to adore. I’ve watched numerous interviews, and he's always come across as a decent enough guy, which made me that much more curious as to how he was able to get inside the mind of Bruce, his character in Travis Stevens' A Wounded Fawn.
The obvious comparison is Patrick Bateman, but I got a bit of a Mark Duplass in Creep vibe, and while I was already a fan of Ruben for his standout work as of late, his recent collaboration with Stevens is definitely something special. While I was more excited to discuss his production process on Werewolves Within and his voice with Scare Me, Ruben is always working on something clever and creative that keeps me (and most people) interested, and A Wounded Fawn is no exception.
As discussed, both A Wounded Fawn and Blood Relatives will both be available exclusively through Shudder very soon. So, keep an eye out for those as I'd argue that most, if not all, of what Ruben is involved in is worth your time. Be sure to follow him on Twitter as well, if you'd like to be kept up to date on his graphic novel, Darla, set to be released early next year.
