Drawing inspiration from Russ Meyer, Robbie Lopez (Texas Death Trippin’, Mulligan’s Monsters, Cult of Blood) intertwines fantasy and real-life events to leave gore-craved audiences and true crime fans fulfilled.
Lopez pulls double duty as he writes and directs his homage to the 60s, BORN TO RAISE HELL follows the infamous story of a group of student nurses as they encounter the legendary Richard Speck. Legend says Speck was both high and drunk, so will the girls make it through the night, or does Speck add to his growing list of victims?
Mikael Mattsson (Chop Chop, Mr. Bowling Ball) haunts the night as Richard Speck and “delivers a memorable performance that would make the Birdman proud.”
Todd Sheet’s alum Rick Daniels (Zombie Bloodbath) joins in on the fun as a homeless man, and Chris Wolfe (Where Are You, Bobby Browning?) does not disappoint as he brings his talents to Kansas City. Crude Cinema regulars Richard Montano (The Bell Affair), Isabelle Bearce (Cult of Blood), and Abbey Briscoe (Headcheese) round out the eclectic cast.
While the story is known, the “Murder of eight student nurses” isn’t always highlighted when discussing Richard Speck, so that along with Lopez’s unique lens makes BORN TO RAISE HELL one of the indie darlings you don’t want to miss!
Check out BORN TO RAISE HELL this summer when it gets its official release.
